UK auto manufacturing up 17.1% YoY in March 2025

While numbers were up for March, UK vehicle production was still down 6.3% overall during Q1. By Stewart Burnett

UK car and commercial vehicle production grew by 17.1% in March 2025, driven by a 30.6% rise in exports according to new data shared by the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT). At the same time, overall manufacturing in Q1 is down 6.3% year-on-year, with significant uncertainty looming ahead due to new US tariffs.
