Shawn Johnson and Andrew East are showing Us their version of gold medal-worthy gifting! The Olympic gymnastics gold medalist and former NFL star couple teamed up with Amazon to reveal their top recommendations available with Amazon’s Same-Day Delivery — and they start at just $5!
In an interview with Us, Johnson and East opened up about their holiday gift picks for the season, what it was like partnering with Amazon and how the retailer’s Same-Day Delivery service helps with last-minute gifting and makes life easier as parents of three.
“There are so many logistical concerns with having kids,” East said. “It’s nice that Amazon handles a lot of logistical problems so that parents don’t have to. But I think we do depend on Same-Day Delivery for everyday essentials or last-minute gift stuff.”
In a campaign promoting Amazon’s Same-Day Delivery service, the Couple Things podcast hosts saw what it was like to be Amazon Flex Drivers drivers for a day. The two raced against each other to fulfill Same-Day Delivery orders in their hometown of Nashville, Tennessee.
“It was fun,” Johnson said. “It was humbling. We have a newfound respect. But [it was] also so cool being able to actually go into the facility, see the new hub and see how the whole flex drivers and same-day delivery works. We got to see everything from how they package all of the stuff to how they get it in the carts, to how they get it in the cars. Then being able to deliver that to kids and then a gymnastics gym was really special.”
As parents of three little ones, Johnson said that she notices herself using the Same-Day service “a lot more during the holidays,” when “life gets more hectic and chaotic.” However, the pair have also used it for last-minute emergencies, like when they hosted a Friendsgiving and forgot to buy a large dish for their sweet potato casserole.
“I was making so many things,” Johnson said. “And being able to do Same-Day Delivery for a casserole dish, which seems like a very specific item to run out and grab, was amazing.”
