The candidate who received the most votes in the 13 August Argentinean presidential primary election, Javier Milei, represents the extreme right-wing liberal party, “La Libertad Avanza” (Liberty Advances) (1). After winning the election, Milei promised to eliminate the Ministry of Science and the Argentine Research Council (CONICET) and argued that scientists should find work in the private sector instead (2).
