You knew it was coming. After the latest poll from The New York Times and Sienna College showed Donald Trump beating Kamala Harris, the cope began flowing like fine wine.

RedState reported on Sunday that Trump leads Harris by one point, 48 to 47 percent in the new survey. The latter’s favorable rating has also dropped to 46 percent, which is much closer to where she was prior to becoming the Democratic Party presidential nominee.

The reactions came fast and hard, ranging from outright terror to excuse-making dressed up in faux intellectualism. Here was Aaron Rupar, one of the chief purveyors of disinformation on the left, melting down and insulting Americans.

Do Democrats ever stop and ponder whether they are on the wrong side? I’m not claiming Donald Trump is perfect. Far from it, and I don’t think there are very many Republicans alive who would disagree. But when you start describing society as “sick” because some people would dare to vote differently than you, maybe you’re the problem.

Then there was podcast bro Jon Favreau, who decided to go with “the voters are just stupid and ill-informed” as his reason for Trump leading.

The desire from some voters to know more about Kamala Harris is more about her continually avoiding any tough questions than people being completely blind to who she is. She’s been vice president for four years and ran for president in 2019 (she didn’t make it to 2020). There’s no great mystery about where she stands, even if she’s doing her best to change her entire policy history via anonymous aides.

Even Favreau’s list of plans is funny when you consider Donald Trump proposed three of them first. The former president has been pushing for an increase in the child tax credit since before Kamala entered the race. He also capped insulin at $35 while he was president. Lastly, he intends to extend the Trump tax cuts, something Harris is against. As to the building “three million new homes” thing, that’s such an irrelevant, silly promise. The federal government doesn’t build houses, and a giveaway to “first-time home buyers” would just raise market prices. You can’t rig the system that way.

With that said, some other Democrats have entered the acceptance stage.

She’s right. Not picking Josh Shapiro was a massive mistake. Had she done so, the popular Pennsylvania governor would have likely had his state leaning Democrat. Instead, Harris sought to appease the radical antisemites in Dearborn and it’s put the race in doubt for her. If the Democrat nominee does end up losing, that will have been the catalyst.

Long story short, you can’t build a campaign solely on “vibes.” Harris has run out of steam because there’s nothing underneath the facade of “joy.” This is a person who still doesn’t even have a policy platform on her website. She’s an empty suit, and voters are figuring that out. Can she turn it around? Sure, and the debate is going to matter, but the plan for her to coast to victory has officially failed.
