BMW hits pause on producing EV minis in the UK


BMW has blamed the delay on diminished demand in Europe for EVs, and assures that plans to retool its Oxford plant remain in place. By Stewart Burnett

BMW has hit the brakes on its previously-announced £600m (US$760m) plans to produce electrified Minis at its plan in Oxford, UK. The plans, first announced in September 2023, are being paused due to faltering demand for electric vehicles in Europe.
