Ten-year U.S. Treasury yields closed higher in 2024, continuing a multi-year trend, Deutsche Bank Research’s Henry Allen and Jim Reid said in a note.
The 10-year Treasury yield rose for a fourth consecutive year, the first time that has happened since the 1980s, the analysts said.
A strong U.S. economy has led to fewer interest-rate cuts by the Federal Reserve than had been expected at the start of 2024. This has lifted both Treasury yields and the U.S. dollar, which recorded its strongest annual close since 2001.
